LOCATION: Amherst, Providence
APPEARING: Gabe, Mike, Niroshan

A weekend in Amherst isn't complete without a hike... so I headed out to Amythist Brook with Mike Kurtz and Gabe Shore.

Afterwards, I headed out to Providence, RI to catch Little Brother and Fort Minor at Lupos with my little brother Niroshan. My musical tastes have slowly diverged into hip-hop and rap over the years. Something about beats and the almost mathmatical nature of this style appeals to me - the opposite of jazz and jam music which I throughly abhor.

Little Brother is a hip-hop group from my surogate home state, North Carolina. Listening to them had me thinking of countless nights back up at Technician where Timmy would bump thier beats as we finalized the paper. Great act.

Fort Minor led by Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park rapper and producer) headlined the show. Shindoa has consistently wowed me since I began listening to him with beats that have never failed to capture me. Shinoda's act which included two violinists, a base chello, three back up singers, and two drummers, made for a refreshing take for a rap show.

Today was also my first full day with my 50 mm f/1.4 - absolutely love the dreamy depth-of-field I get now - focusing is slow and not as reliable as I would hope, but I'll grow into it.
